Of course, every Christmas since having kids has been so much more fun and exciting but this Christmas was indescribable. My heart was so incredibly happy and watching the expressions on my kids faces put this day at the very top of our entire year! I will do my best to describe our morning knowing that I can't possibly put it all into words.
Santa has arrived and the living room is just waiting for two little kiddos to walk down the stairs.
Stockings are filled and cookies and milk are gone...
Just like last year, Hudson still sleeps late. Very late. Sometimes until noon. And to wake him up when Hadley typically wakes up would make for a very rough start to our day. I slept in Hadley's bed with her so she wouldn't wake up in the middle of the night and come downstairs. I was shocked when the girl that typically wakes up at 6:30 actually slept until 7:15. I called Matt to let him know we were ready and she waited at the top of the stairs while I ran down to the bottom and grabbed the camera.
First look and big smiles!
She seemed most excited about the monkey Santa brought her that acts like a real baby by sucking a bottle, crying, giggling.
Santa brought a horse for both the kids.
And because it was going to be just too hard to wait until Hudson woke up we let her pick out one present to open. She chose the first one she saw which turned out to be a robe she has been asking for for a couple months. She was so excited to put it on and play with her new Santa toys until Hudson woke up.
Hudson actually ended up waking up fairly early about 9 so it was nice for us to not have to wait too long! I went up to get him and Matt video taped him coming down so I don't have pictures of him first seeing his gifts. But I will try and describe it. He was holding a toy dinosaur he had slept with. As we came downstairs he was smiling ear to ear and was so excited. We turned the corner and he froze as he saw the presents. He dropped his dinosaur, looked up at us, and said, "I really like it!" Santa had gotten a few toys for the kids to share but Hudson quickly pointed out the girly toys and said, "Sissy, this yours" basically claiming the shared toys for himself!
He seemed most excited about his new workbench and played with it most of the morning. In fact, Daddy and Hudson have spent much of the day "building" new projects.
As soon as the kids were finished looking at the fun stuff Santa had brought they were really excited to open their presents. I tried to snap several pictures but then put the camera down so I could really enjoy the time with them and no camera in the way.
Hadley had asked for this specific camera for a while and was so excited to get it.
Loving Spiderman!
Not happy about his shoes. He said, "Me don't want these."
After we stayed home playing with our gifts for a while we decided to go visit Mama and Papa and then went to Lolly and Pops house. It was fun to have such a relaxing day visiting with family.
Back at home and playing with the Sand from their stocking. This stuff is so fun and surprisingly it really doesn't make a mess.
Such a fun, fun day! Hadley was so incredibly thankful for all her presents and told us several times! She was so sweet to help Hudson with all his presents and to make a big deal about all he got. 6 years old is a pretty wonderful stage and she still has so much awe and excitement for all things Christmas! Hudson was just a joy to watch. He has talked about Santa coming for days and to see him put it all together was so fun. Our Christmas was absolutely perfect. We are so thankful for the birth of our Saviour and so blessed by the life he has provided us!
