June Pics

June was such a busy month with a family vacation, Hadley's birthday, and Hadley going to Kanakuk that I have very few pictures not in seperate posts. But here's to the beginning of summer...

We spent lots of time at the pool, getting sno cones, and cooling off in the early heat of summer.

I just LOVE this picture of Hadley brushing her teeth. Still so little she has to use a step stool at the sink but looking so grown up too. Those mismatched clothes, her sports bra, and holding her hair back just makes the picture to me!

The kids had another year of Vacation Bible School at Crossings. Hudson was in a friend of mine's class so I got lots of pictures of him throughout the week. Unfortunately, I got none of Hadley. But they both had a blast! Hudson was in class with a bunch of new kids that will be in Kindergarten with him and Hadley had several friends from school with her in her class. Such a fun week!

These last three pics were taken during Hadleys week at Kanakuk. Sleepy boy that I will never get tired of taking pictures of, relaxing on the couch with Hudson, and working in his Kindergarten workbook. Hudson is such a little sponge and always wanting to learn! Sure hopes that continues!

A quote I don't want to forget...I was laying in bed with Hudson while he was trying to fall asleep. He said, "Mommy, when I die I will go to Heaven and I will look and look for you until I find you. A lot of people have died so it will probably take me a long time though.

This boy and his sweet heart!!!

Hadleys time at Kanakuk

I don't have a lot of explanations for all the pics since I wasn't there but I absolutely LOVED getting online each day to see which pictures were posted from the previous day. I would admittedly stalk the website just waiting to see. And it made me SO, SO happy to see her smiling face in each day's pictures! I also loved that the week started with most of her pictures being with Lottie and then it ended with most pictures being with other friends. I think its so great that they each branched out throughout the week!

Adventure Zone

Hudson enjoyed a little time with Mommy and Daddy while Hadley was gone. Today I was off work so we met Sarah, Ben, and Will at the Chesapeake Adventure zone. It was a hot day but we had such a great time. Hudson impressed me with his rock climbing and his complete lack of fear. He was even a little frustrated that he was a couple inches shy of being able to do the tallest of the ropes courses. I can't wait to go back again sometime. I think Daddy and Hadley would really love it too!

Hadley leaves for K-Kountry

It's finally here! Hadley has been looking forward to Kanakuk and hadn't seemed anxious at all. I, on the other hand, have been thinking about it day and night. I know she is ready and it will be so good for her but I just have a huge fear that she won't love it and will be missing us the whole time. I am so thankful that she has her best friend going with her which I know will help so much!

We spent the night before leaving packing her bags. She wanted to help me pack which was fun for both of us. We labeled all her clothes, put outfits together in ziplock baggies, gathered shower stuff, and washed her sheets. And finally, we decorated her trunk and she LOVES it!

We ended the night cuddling in bed before she fell fast asleep. Not many nerves coming from this girl...yet.

Saturday morning we woke up early, got dressed, and rushed out the door to make it to Remington Park by 7:30am. Hadley HATES car rides and always asks, "Are we almost there?" But that question was not asked this morning. Instead, as we pulled in the parking lot her eyes filled up with tears and she said, "we are already here?" I put on my happy face and made sure she didn't see that I wanted to cry as well. Thankfully, she cheered up pretty quickly and had no problem jumping on the bus and telling us bye!

Hudson realized he hadn't really gotten to hug and kiss her bye and he wanted to go on the bus to see her. When we climbed on he ran straight to her, gave her a big hug, and cried because he didn't want her to leave. I always tell them they will be best of friends someday and this proves to me that I am right! We left her one last time and Hudson watched with us as the bus pulled away.

I can't say I had the greatest day. I was a little consumed with wondering how she was doing, if she got her lunch ok, and checking my email. I knew they were supposed to email us a check-in picture so we would know she made it and it just didn't come soon enough. Finally, around 3:00pm my email arrived saying that Hadley had checked in! Whew! And a big smile on her face to go along with the email. Such a big relief...though it didn't make me miss her less.

Here are a few more pictures from the day of check-in. Hadley being announced at kamp, carried off by her counselor, and enjoying a welcome picnic dinner. Looks like its going to be a great week!
