100th day of school

Hudson has really looked forward to the 100th day of school! He has thought and thought about what he wanted to decorate his hat with and then finally came up with using marshmallows. It was a little interesting getting the marshmallows to stick to the hat. We first tried a hot glue gun not even thinking that it would just melt the marshmallows. Then we tried superglue but it just spread into the fabric and didn't stick to the marshmallows. Finally, I went and bought fabric glue to give it one last shot and it worked great. Hudson put all the marshmallows on himself and even ate half the bag while he decorated. As seen in the picture, Bauer found the marshmallows very tempting as well. We had to make sure and keep the hat out of the dogs reach when we went to bed that night.

I loved seeing all the kids hats but Hudson's was definitely my favorite! I went in a little late to work so I could watch all the kids in the 1st grade parade through the school. It was fun to see how proud they all were of their creations

After the parade the parents left but Ms. Mehlhaff sent us pictures throughout the day of the kids 100th day of school activities. Such a fun day for them!

Abby and Katie's Birthday weekend

It finally worked out for all 4 of us to go to Ft Worth this year for Abby and Katies 12th birthday celebration. We drove down late Friday evening after the kids were out of school and stayed the night in a hotel. We met the family at the Ft Worth Rodeo Saturday morning and it was mine and Hadley's first rodeo experience though Hudson didn't really remember it. It was quite the experience. The kids loved it but also had such mixed emotions feeling sorry for the animals. You can see the panic in one of the pics of Hudson.

After the rodeo there was a great carnival outside. This was by far what the kids were looking forward to the most. They had so much fun on all the rides and Hudson was tall enough to ride pretty much all the rides.

Hudson talked Daddy into a new gun from the carnival. He seems to be pretty happy about it!

We had a fun birthday dinner celebrating E, Lolly, Abby, and Katie with cake and Mexican food. Afterwards we walked around a little bit before it got a little to chilly. Hadley spent the night with the girls and Hudson came back with us to the hotel. We got up Sunday morning, had breakfast at Amy's house, and then had to get on the road for Hudson's soccer game. It was such a fun weekend!

Dance and Softball

The pixies are starting early this year and we had our first tournament! Unfortunately, it just so happened it fell on the same weekend as Hadley's competition dance showcase. She had rehearsal on Saturday and then the show on Sunday. The tournament was a Sunday only indoor tournament and it worked out perfectly that she only had to miss one game! She did have to finish the last game in full make up though. I would love to know what the other team thought. The Pixies played great and we took 2nd place. It was a busy weekend of changing in the car, doing make up on the go, and driving back and forth from softball fields to dance auditoriums but so worth it! I don't think Hudson was thrilled about all the back and forth so he was pretty excited to get to spend the day with Gray. Hadley even got a few visitors to watch her last game when the Dillons came to drop Hudson off.
