Some July favorites

Well, this hot month is finally over and we still managed to have fun even though we spent a lot of time indoors! Here is to hoping August starts cooling down for us. A few pictures that didn't seem to fit into any blog post.

Hadley bowling for the first time. She loved it...just not the shoes! She just couldn't understand why they weren't pretty. We came bowling for her friend Keely's birthday party and she scored second out of all the girls there. She was pretty excited with her 124 (with bumpers, of course)!

A rare moment for Hudson to fall asleep in the car. This never happens but I guess school really wore him out today!

Mr. Cool...in Mommy's sunglasses.

Saturday afternoon means naps for everyone (but me). Hudson was asleep in his room and Hadley and Daddy were going to watch a movie while I took a shower. After getting ready I walked into the living room to see this.

Baby Buck is getting big so fast! Such a smiley, happy baby. Thankfully, Hudson is still obsessed but at least gives him a break from being held every once in a while.

After deciding to go to the park early one morning before it got hot, I put on a hat. We were just about to load up in the car when Hadley told me she forgot something. She quickly ran upstairs and came down wearing her pink hat as well so that we could match. She looks so stinking cute in a hat!

Dancing bikini queen. This girl is always dancing, always singing, and always wearing her bathing suit. She hates being hot so if I persuade her to go out in this heat she at least has to have on as little as possible. Here are some pictures of a dance she made up in the driveway one day.

I told Hudson we could go on a walk and he wanted to take his wagon with us. He kept trying to put Hadley's babies in it and was getting frustrated that they wouldn't fit. I said, "Hudson, I am going to go upstairs and get Hadley some clothes. Why don't you take your cars in the wagon with us?" Little did I know I would come downstairs to see he would take me so literally and load up ALL his toys with wheels...oh, and a saw just in case we needed it.

Playing on the chaise in my room, Hadley and Hudson got the giggles and I happened to have my camera nearby to capture this sweet moment. Every day I can tell they love each other more and more.

"My sister is so hilarious!"

"Hmmm..."

One of my all-time favorites!

Hadley fell asleep on the couch and it was driving Hudson absolutely nuts to not have her up and playing with him. I kept saying, "Hudson, do NOT wake her up." So he would give me this look and lean further and further in to her until...

...he just couldn't stand it any longer!

Being silly in the car while waiting for Hudson to wake up.

And asleep again in the car. This may be only the 3rd or 4th time ever but the second time in one month. Very cliche but there is just nothing sweeter than a sleeping baby!

When I was a little girl I would get up early every Sunday morning and read the comics while my parents read the news. Hadley has taken after me and become quite the early riser as well. She spent the night at my parents one weekend and when she woke up Sunday morning they were reading the paper. She looked through the paper, pulled out the comics, and started laughing as she tried to read and understand them. My dad sent me this picture saying, "Like mother, like daughter."

A family self-portrait while watching movies before bedtime.

I have mentioned before that Hudson is our biter. He only bites when he really wants something another kid has and unfortunately, Hadley often has that specific toy. She is so sweet and handles him really well. She cries and then immediately gives him a hug and asks him to please say he is sorry. I have to say I wouldn't blame her if she took another approach some day. Well, we have been so so lucky that he has not taken to biting kids at school...until the 2nd to last week. I picked up Hudson from school and received this note as well as an explanation that he bit a poor child. The teacher did say he willingly went to time out, cried the entire time, and wanted to give the kid a hug when he got out. Thankfully, we have a long summer break to work on him and home he ends this habit quickly.

Sleepy girl. Hadley always sleeps with her arms above her head like her daddy.

Last day of school.

And in celebration of the start of the olympics and the end of school we stopped by Eileen's cookies for a special treat.

In the golf cart for our nightly trip on the course to hit some balls.

Hudson thought it was pretty hilarious to hide from us under our entry table. He would be so quiet until we made eye contact and then laugh until he couldn't breathe.

Tickles from sister...

These pictures make it seem like our kids live in front of the TV! But I just can't get enough of these sweet kiddos watching tv together and sucking their thumbs.

Sick baby girl

Our sweet girl came stumbling into our room yesterday morning complaining that her head was hurting her really bad. The tears soon led to coughing which quickly led to throwing up... a lot. Poor girl got a pretty nasty stomach bug that had her throwing up every 30 minutes for about 6 hours and then about every hour after that for the rest of the 24 hour bug. It was scary enough for me that she couldn't keep a single thing down but even more scary that she was screaming and crying about how bad her head hurt and tylenol/ibuprofen didn't seem to even phase the constant headache. A call to our pediatrician reassured us that this bug had been associated with headaches and was spreading quickly in children. My mom came over to take care of Hadley so Hudson could get out of the house and stay away from the germs. She brought over some Sonic ice which tasted so good to Hadley and she slowly started keeping some fluids down. Hadley slept with me that night while Matt slept in her bed in hopes of us both not getting sick and at 10:00 the next morning she was back to her old self. I don't think I have ever gone a 24 hour period without hearing my favorite giggle in the world and it was so great to hear it again.

Anyway, my point of this is not to re-live a brutal 24 hours but to show what a sensitive little brother Hudson can be. Hudson did NOT like that Hadley was sick. He wanted to lay on the pillow with her every minute. We finally decided that since they had been drinking from the same cup the night before it really wasn't going to make any difference if he were to lay with her so we let him. It seemed to be the only thing that brought a smile to Hadley's face.

So happy to see this beautiful sunset and know that the day is over and soon she will feel better...hopefully.

Day 2, feeling better, and sharing popsicles. Probably not the best idea to share a popsicle so soon but the wonderful mom I am didn't even think about it until it was too late!

Peyton and Buck made Hadley a get well present that seemed to help. Here is the bag but she also got a new OSU headband and some cookies that were gobbled up pretty quickly. I definitely think we are on the mend.
*update- I am happy to report the virus spread no further and none of us got sick. Miracles do happen!

Sloan and Davis' visit

Drew and Padgett are remodeling their house and got to the point of tearing out their kitchen so we were lucky to have them come to Oklahoma for a little while. Actually, Drew, Padgett, and Ellis were only here about a week but then Sloan and Davis got to stay another couple weeks. Hadley loved having Sloan here and Hudson followed Davis around everywhere. We had lots of playdates, slumber parties, and swimming.

Here a couple pictures from the lake after the 4th. We all spent the weekend there and the kids loved tubing, swimming, and playing in the sand.

This picture isn't too clear but we ended up with four adults, 12 kids, and a giant tube all on one boat. There were actually 13 kids until I got too nervous and pulled Hudson off at the last minute. I just knew he would be the kid to go overboard!

Hudson and Kase on the Polaris

Hadley loves "driving" the boat!
Davis and his daddy.

Abby, E, and Sloan. I think Abby and Katie love the boat the most. They were so excited to ride around the lake and ride on the tube as well.

The first tubers giving us a thumbs up before starting.

The same girls now tubing. Abby on the left, Lexi in the middle, Katie on the right.

Sloan and Hadley loved watching them.

Here is Hadley on the left, Drew and Davis in the middle, and Sloan on the right.

Hadley was a little ragdoll and bounced all over the tube. She ended up with a little whiplash and didn't do a lot more tubing.

Sleepy girl fell asleep on the boat and stayed asleep while being carried all the way up the dock and into the house. She was exhausted.

Peyton and Hudson riding back from getting the boat off the trailer. Hudson loves his big cousin and Peyton is such a big helper!

The four girls in the bathtub and making bubble beards.

Swimming at the neighborhood is much more fun when we get to ride the golfcart to the pool. It was always the highlight of going to the pool.

Hudson and Davis eating animal crackers and watching the dogs play (and eat their dropped crackers).

We spent lots of time at Lolly and Pop's house. The kids played in the sprinklers, played chase, ate dinner and desserts...

...and had car races.

More pictures at our pool. Hudson and Davis loved playing with Hudson's cars in the water.

Driving Hadley's car in the neighborhood.

We got some new patio furniture and turned the boxes into a house for the kids. Here they are destroying the living room...

...and the cardboard house.
We loved having Sloan and Davis here for a couple weeks and even my Type A personality will miss the chaos! We are all looking forward to December when the whole family comes at Christmas...
