Trick-or-Treating

Halloween on a Wednesday meant a long day at school for both kids and then a night full of gathering more candy.

We love trick-or-treating in our neighborhood. Living on a golf course means most of the families have a golf cart. So rather than walking from house to house, you pass everyone driving from house to house while the kids jump on and off to walk up to the doors. I guess you could say its the lazy way of doing it but it's at least more fun to go to a lot more houses. My mom and dad brought pizza over and we all ate before going out. Ryan and Lisa brought Buck over for his first year of trick-or-treating and they stayed at the house to hand out candy so we could all go out together. Hudson had to be woken up from his nap and wasn't too thrilled about being rushed around to get ready right after waking up...

Ready to go but mommy made them sit still for just a couple minutes to get a couple pictures. Don't mind the dead poinsettia in the background. Just focus on the cutest superheroes you ever did see!

First house to go up to and Hudson needed daddy's help at first. He soon got the hang of it and had no problem running up to a house and asking for candy.

Our house being swarmed by trick-or-treaters as we drove by. My parents said we JUST about ran out of candy.

A trick-or-treaters dream...this house was giving out full sized candy bars. I remember growing up and word would get out that certain houses were giving out money or big candy bars. Everyone would rush to those houses before they ran out. Hadley thought it was so cool to have a giant candy bar.

Cutest little monkey, Buck. He had no idea what was going on but just seemed to be happy all bundled up.

Going through their baskets. Only one picture because I was quick to put down the camera and sneak a couple pieces myself! Another fun Halloween night.

Storybook Forest

We went to the storybook forest at Lake Arcadia to do some trick-or-treating with Lexi, Jase, Kellen, Kinley, and Kase. We got there a little bit before trick-or-treating and made our own tailgate at a picnic table with chili and desserts. It was so cold but the kids still had a great time.

Hadley had church and then a birthday party so when it was time to head out there she was exhausted. A quick nap in the car seemed to do the trick.

Just arriving and since we were the last to get there everybody was ready to take some pics. Lolly and Pops stopped by for a little bit to see all the kids dressed up.

Cutest Batgirl I have ever seen!

Hudson was NOT happy about his costume. He screamed for about the first 10 minutes of us putting it on and then seemed to finally give up. Therefore, the mask that went with the costume was not even a possibility! Thankfully, as soon as he realized he was about to get a bucket full of candy he decided it wasn't worth the fight and quickly forgot about having a costume on.

Spiderman and Batgirl eating some chili and cupcakes.

Hudson decided it was easier to not use his hands and just lick the icing off instead.

Me and my little spiderman

Sending out his webs...or just screaming because he didn't want us taking pictures.

Hadley and Lexi.

The storybook forest has many stops set up where popular nursery rhymes and stories are told. The kid can listen to the story, read about it, or in our case...walk up and get the candy and quickly head to the next story. I didn't blame them because I was freezing! This was Hadley's favorite, of course. She is just crazy about Rapunzel.

My two favorite men in my life!

Big sis was so good at helping Hudson get candy in his bucket. She would even help him pick out what  he wanted first.

Hudson would have worked all night at getting this sword out of the stone. Poor guy was not giving up and had to be peeled away and was not happy about it.

Checking to see if I am going to put a limit on how much candy he takes!

So day number two of getting a bucket full of Halloween candy and it's not even Halloween yet! We were all cold and ready to go home by the end of the night but still had a great time. Here's to picking a warmer evening next year...

Self portrait

This morning Hadley and Hudson were coloring and Hadley brought me this picture. She said it is a picture of what she will look like when she is older. Although I was slightly concerned what the pink circles were, she quickly informed me she was wearing one of the dresses with "the big, poofy sleeves." Whew!

Halloween Party

Brooklyn Holleyman's grandma hosted her "1st annual Halloween party" and the kids could not have had more fun. She decorates above and beyond for all holidays and Hadley and Hudson were amazed at all the "scary" decorations. In the backyard she had set up carnival style games for all the kids. They got to decorate their own goody bag and then go to each game and play for some candy. I am so happy this will be an annual event because we had such a great time!

Brooklyn, Holland, and Hadley

Hadley is sitting on the table with her friend Prestyn from Crossings and below Prestyn is her little sister, Keaton, who is Hudson's age. Hudson was being a stinker and threw a complete fit when we tried to put his costume on so we happy enough to just get a Halloween t-shirt on him!

Hudson was very excited about his own sack of popcorn.

Hudson hung out at the girl table for quite a while. He is already trying to flirt with older women! I didn't know the girl on the far right but she had the best costume!!! She wanted to be an old woman and her mom sprayed her hair gray, she wore her mom's shoes, and she was dressed perfectly. So cute!

Decorating the candy bags. It was incredibly warm outside and Hadley was quick to strip off her long sleeve shirt soon after we got there. I was glad I had her wear the tank top underneath.

Ever since Hadley lost her bottom tooth we have started getting smiles like this (but still the cutest batgirl you have ever seen):

Hadley pinned the nose on the pumpkin in the perfect spot and was pretty proud of herself!

What a fun Halloween party. I loved seeing all the kids dressed up in their costumes!
