Kanakuk Day 2 (Sunday)

Hadley and Hudson were pretty excited about the bunk beds in our room which was probably the only reason it was so easy to get them in bed the first night. They slept great from being worn out and we woke up just in time to get ready and make it to the dining hall for breakfast.

Each morning when you wake up there are camp notes on the door that tell you what the activities are for the day and how to dress the kids. After breakfast we dropped the kids off but not before they had a chance to play with the snails that are crawling all around camp. They thought the snails were so cute while I was grossed out by the trail of slime they leave behind them.

The kids went with their groups in  the mornings (Hadley was a kiwi kid and Hudson was a Kowabunga) and that was the adults time to listen to the speaker and/or have some time alone laying in hammocks, reading, swimming, etc. We really enjoyed the speaker and ended up listening to him 4 of the 5 mornings. Afterwards we would have about an hour to do whatever we liked before picking up the kids. The first morning I looked out the window to see Hudson's class passing by...so cute!

This is where the older kids met for a quick devotional before their morning fun...

After our first morning we picked up the kids just in time for lunch. Hudson had gone swimming so he had dry clothes on but Hadley was soaked after playing in the rain all morning. It didn't take that sweet smile off her face though!

Afternoons consisted of free time for the family. You could leave camp, swim, go to the game room, ball court, etc. With a week of off and on rain we had several moments where the pool looked like the first picture and several looking like the second picture. It was actually pretty nice to keep the temperatures down though! Of course, we spent as much time at the pool as possible.

Monday evening we had a dinner and game night. The kids ate with their counselors and the parents got an enjoyable dinner with no kids and only adults in the dining hall. We then picked up the kids who were finishing their night with the counselors. This picture gives an idea of just how many kids were there. We ended day two with a little basketball on the ball court to make sure the kids were good and worn out before bed.
