Another successful birthday party in the books! Hadley wanted to have an ice cream sundae party for her 6th birthday. It was more fun than I even imagined and thankfully we didn't even end up with sprinkles and sticky fingerprints all over the house. Hadley had the best time and wore a huge smile on her face the entire time!
Her invitation:
This is one of my favorite cakes we have had made so far!
Bags for the kids to decorate with ice cream cones. They then used these bags to collect their candy from the ice cream cone pinata.
With only a couple days left before the party, I decided that 95 degrees would be too hot to have an ice cream bar set up outside. But when we thought about setting it all up on the bar we realized the kids would not be tall enough to stand and make their own ice cream. So my dad came to the rescue and made two benches for us, that very night! He is always wanting to help and has a solution to any problem.

Trying to sneak a bite:
I'm going to hold her up on my hip for as long as I can! Happy birthday to the sweetest girl I know...
Everybody started arriving and the girls began decorating their bags. I ended up spending the first 20 minutes helping them figure out what to do and left the greeting up to Matt.
It was only a few minutes later that all the kids were ready for their ice cream cones! My idea of them doing it all by themselves did not quite happen and Papa ended up having to scoop all the ice cream! The girls got to choose a cup or a cone, chocolate or vanilla or mix, and then they had a little help with the toppings from Mama.
Poor Hudson spent a lot of the party frustrated and whiney because he wasn't able to do so much of what the big girls were doing. He absolutely insisted on getting his ice cream himself so as soon as everyone was done we gave him his chance to try. His little determined self got it done and it seemed to make him a little happier.
Cake time!
Not the piece of cake he wanted and his face showed it!
The birthday girl took a swing at the pinata. I was a little nervous that with so many kids, one of the girls may not get a chance to swing but instead everyone got a turn and it was finally broken open the second time around.
Lastly, Hadley opened all her presents. She got some great things including a tennis racket for her upcomming tennis camp, clothes from some friends and family, jewelry, a high chair for her american girl doll, clothes for her doll, and lots of girly toys. She loved EVERYTHING!
The party was perfect! We are so thankful for such wonderful friends for our little girl and love all of their families as well. It was such a special year for me as this is the last birthday before our sweet girl goes to Kindergarten and starts making even more new friends. Hadley was so appreciative of everything we did for her and continued to say thank you for several more days. Happy Birthday Hadley!
