Harn Homestead field trip

I LOVE field trips with Hadley. She loves having me there which makes it that much more fun to go. This fieldtrip was to the Harn Homestead. William Harn was appointed to be the special land commissioner after the Land Run. He purchased much land near the present capitol and him and his wife lived there. He never had children and only their niece came to live with them for some time. He ended up selling some land to the state and that is where the state capitol building now sits. It is now a historical site with much of it being left untouched. The home they lived in, as well as the schoolhouse, are still standing and used for teaching purposes. It really was such an interesting field trip that I may have even enjoyed more than Hadley!

Using the iron they would heat up on the stove.

Pretending to be in school. The teacher treated them just as the students used to be treated. I think it made all of them realize how lax the school is now!
