Invention Convention

In third grade the students compete in an invention convention. They have to come up with a unique idea, research it to make sure there isn't anything like it out there, and then try and produce it. The teachers knew this was something that may not be feasible so if it cannot be made you are allowed to just make something to represent it.

Hadley came up with her idea all by herself. She still LOVES babies and baby dolls. And I think her mind revolves around it. So her first idea was a bottle that turns colors if the milk is too hot. Unfortunately, she found out that it already exists. After lots of thinking and ideas she came up with her project...The Fever Sheet

How it works: The babies crib sheet has a sensor on it that connects through blue tooth to your phone.  An app is then downloaded to your phone. If your baby has a fever while sleeping it alerts your phone through the app to let you know. How cool would that be?!

So, obviously, Hadley was not able to actually create her invention so I just helped her mock up a crib mattress with a sensor. Her teachers loved her project! I really couldn't believe she came up with the idea all by herself. And she didn't want any help. She designed her poster all by herself and she was so proud of it.

The 3rd graders held their convention and parents were able to come walk around and ask them about their inventions. Hadley was pretty nervous but did a great job. I was able to go up on my lunch break but Mama went up there and Ryan found out about it and stopped by as well. Hadley thought it was so cool to have him there. I know for sure this project was Hadley's favorite of the year!
