May pics

We've been playing a lot of softball...and soccer, and baseball, and karate, and dance! It's kept us more than busy but I am so very thankful that the kids help keep me from getting too stressed. They understand its a busy season, they want to do all these activities so they rarely complain or say they are tired, and they continue to realize that school is most important. Third grade isn't easy. Our school has lots of homework and math becomes much more challenging in 3rd grade. But Hadley has handled it so well. She gets her homework done first thing after school and has met her high AR goals each quarter. Hudson is learning to read and is thankfully, a pretty independent reader already. I am so proud of these kids. I feel like I hear stories of my friends kids and I don't truly understand just how lucky we are!

Here is a picture of Hadley, dressed for her softball game and reading outside while we loaded up the car. Only a couple weeks left to meet her goal and it will be down to the wire!

Hudson's kindergarten class got to bless the assisted living residents near the school by singing to them. They had just had their spring recital and sang all those songs to them. They were all so well behaved and did such a great job. It was wonderful to see all the residents faces light up and to see some of them singing along as well. I wish I had pictures! I made sure to take video of them singing but no pictures. Here is one of Hudson and his friend Jonathan walking back to school from the nursing home.

Sarah Baker was in charge of Teacher Appreciation week this year and it was themed..."The best teachers in the world!" Each day was a different country theme. I volunteered for the last day which happened to be Cinco de Mayo and therefore, was a Mexico theme! We had so much fun decorating and coming up with ideas. There were about 5 of us and it turned out sooo cute! Here are some pictures of our decorating!

Ryan and Lisa's neighborhood had a garage sale and we put some stuff in it. I was thrilled to be able to get rid of some of the stuff we have been storing for a bit now. I'm pretty sure we even gave half of it away just to not have to bring it home! It was a great weekend, pretty hot, and the kids had so much fun together. They had their own bake sale so we took Hadley's lemonade stand over to the house and they got it all set up. They had so many goodies. Each of the four of them ended up making about $40 so they did pretty well!

Hadley and Hudson have started going to a hitting coach for some lessons. His name is Tom and he is not easy to get into so we pretty much take what we can get and we plan on trying to go when he has an opening. Hadley has struggled a little with hitting and we thought he may be able to help. He has sort of reconstructed her swing and after she gets a little more comfortable with it I think it will be really good for her! She has SO much confidence with her fielding and is easily one of our top fielders on the team so I feel like we just need to work on her confidence at the plate. We decided to start Hudson a little early before he develops any bad habits. He has done great the first couple times and he seems to really like it. He will start coach pitch in the fall and it will be great for him to go in feeling comfortable with a ball coming at him.

A little practice at home. What a cute little baseball player!

Walking Bauer is so much more fun with this cute little helper...

A couple sleeping pictures. Matt isn't pictured well but you can see his legs and trust me....he's asleep. Hudson is taking a rare nap in the chair (it might happen once a year)! And then I rarely pass up a chance to take a picture of the kids cuddled up and sleeping together. Not sure how many more years I have of this....hopefully several.

Hudson got to play catcher and was pretty excited about it....look at that big smile! But I think after a couple innings of it he decided he liked being in the field a little better.

Family bike rides may be my very favorite thing right now. I love watching the kids lead the way with us following behind. As the kids get older we get busier with activities. Unfortunately, we get split up sometimes with Matt taking one kid and me taking another. We try our best to get us much time as possible with our family and this is such a great way for us to all get to spend time together.

Matt washed out the garage and it left a stream of water going down the middle of the driveway. A warm day, bare feet, and a little water provided lots of fun for the kids!

Hadley had a field trip to camp DaKani. I was able to take a long lunch and join in for a little while. It was a fun field trip of trust building with friends and learning their own strengths. And seeing Hadley light up when she saw me get there was worth every bit of going!

We got our Kanakuk t-shirts in! I ordered them for one of the family kamp theme nights, Yogonna sweat. Everyone was pretty excited about them and we all put them on to match for the day.

Pretty sunset as the clouds rolled in bringing lots of rain. Great for the grass...not for the pool construction.

Not the way bed is meant to be slept in but seems to work for Bauer....

The school unveiled the new statue of Percival the Knight in front of the new performing arts center. He completes the project and the kids were so excited about it. Hudson's class got to take a little walk over to see him and sent the parents a picture.

And finally, a couple more pictures....my happy girl in the car and the kids in their OSU gear.

May Pool Progress

Another frustrating month though looking back at pictures, so much more was accomplished than it feels like. The pool was supposed to be finished by Memorial Day and we aren't even close! We chose to do chop block in so many areas and we had no idea how time consuming it would be. It literally took the rockers weeks to lay it all. Days would pass and it seemed as if hardly anything was done. The pool rock is finally done, thank goodness. But now we have started the fireplace and I kind-of feel like Matt and I are losing our minds! The porch has started being built though and that is so exciting and fun to see it take shape. Its the one area that was hard for me to picture so I'm really glad to start seeing what it will look like. Right now we just have trees everywhere, dead plants, rock and broken all over, and all our grass is dead! We are trying our best to stay positive and I realize this should have been all expected but its been hard. Each day that we go past the projected completion date has increased the frustration. It will all be worth it in the end!!!
