4th of July celebrations

We have a busy fourth planned with all the Hollomans coming in town and Hadley and I decided it would be fun to get our nails done for the big week ahead.

On Thursday night we all met at Jim and Lynns for dinner and to meet Drew's family as they all came in town. Poor Hudson had an exhausting day and just couldn't stay awake long enough for them to get there. He fell asleep in the car, on my lap, and finally slept on the couch until it was time to go home. We were scared he would be up all night but still managed to get back in bed by 11pm. While he slept the girls all played upstairs and Hadley tried on Abby and Katie's mermaid tail that can go in the water. She thought it was about the coolest thing she had ever put on!

This morning the kids were up bright and early and ready for the pool! Rose Creek always has some pretty fun festivities planned and we thought it would be fun to swim at the pool before heading to Jane and Johns house for more fun. There were about a million people at the pool and we barely managed to even get a couple chairs. But the more people, the more fun for the kids. They laughed and got along great. We ate hotdogs and hamburgers for lunch and the kids wore themselves out.

Lots of games were played for the kids and at one point they had a parent/kid race. Hadley and her daddy competed and got 2nd place! I was so proud of how fast she swam across the entire length of the pool and never slowed down once.

Before leaving the kids got to do a money swim where the lifeguards split the kids into different age groups and then dropped a bunch of coins into the pool for the kids to chase after. Here is a picture of Hudson and a couple school friends before they jumped in after the money.

We went home, rested for a few minutes, changed clothes, and headed over to Jane and John's for more swimming and food. Jane had all kinds of props for the kids to put on a parade and it was fun to watch them all get dressed up to have their picture taken. Hudson jumped off the diving board over and over and was so proud of himself each time! Everybody was in charge of bringing a dish to the party so you can imagine that we were overloaded with food. It was wonderful and we had more than enough desserts as well. We always have such a great time at Jane and John's 4th of July party.

After Jane and John's we went back to our house to watch fireworks and get ready for bed. We put blankets out on the chairs and had a perfect view for another fabulous fireworks show. Lisa, Buck, Gunner, Mama, and Papa came over to watch as well. Someday I have to get better at taking pictures of the fireworks so I can show how great the show is! Our kiddos were pretty exhausted and about halfway in to the show Hudson was still going strong but Hadley was passed out! We had a fun 4th with a fun week ahead of us....
