We had another fanastic weekend at the lake, relaxing with family, and watching the kids play. Ryan, Lisa, Peyton, and Buck were waiting for us when we got there and Peyton and Hadley immediately started playing "beauty shop."
Hudson, with his continued obcession over Buck, was quick to jump in a chair so he could hold him. He does such a good job and loves him so much! I love this picture but I feel like it makes Hudson look sooo big!
So sweet...
Hudson pulled all kinds of toys over in front of Buck and started showing him what they did.
Quick look at the minnows my brother had bought to fish with and we were all ready to get on the boat.
No better way to spend the weekend:
Pure Joy! What's more fun than blaring some music and dancing as crazy as you can on a boat.
A little love for brother:
Filling up his pool so he can go swimming.
Peyton and Hadley found a baby frog..which Peyton quickly adopted as her own.
Some more rides...
Hattie and Anna Mae came over to play with the girls and they spent about an hour climbing on the sea-doo lifts and racing into the water. It didn't bother Hadley at all that she is about 2 years younger than the other girls and most often the last to jump in the water.
She got smart here and ran off first before everyone was even out of the water. She yelled, "I won!"
Taking a break (and warming up)!The water was still pretty chilly...
After finding a mussel in the water they decided to name it Celena Gomez and give her a home in the baby pool. Poor girl died soon after when she got chunked across they yard and her shell got broken. Oh well, they quickly got over the loss.
Hadley, Hattie, and some muddy faces.
Pooped out after a long day of playing so hard!
But this goofball was far from tired. He is our energizer bunny!
CHEEEESE!
Taking a walk the next morning. I love listening to Hadley and Peyton's conversations about their 4 and 6 year old lives. Hudson just had to walk the dogs himself and then quickly gave up on it when they saw his little hands holding the leash and realized it was their chance at escape.
A little boy in heaven! Naked and playing in mud. The best part was when he dropped his bottom a little to low and covered it with mud. Then, wanting to see what was all over his bottom he stood up, bent over, and tried to put his head between his legs. This resulted in the top of his head falling in the mud and covering it as well.
Home and exhausted! Time to curl up, watch TV, and squash your little brother.
That evening we went to our pool so the kids could swim a little more with Lexi and Jase. Hudson loved playing in the fountains.
Lexi and Hadley with their sun-kissed skin.
And this is the first of many clouds that rolled in to close out the weekend. It was followed by some storms over the next couple days which included some pretty damaging hail all over the city. Our yard looked like it had snowed but we thankfully escaped any damage to our house!
Oh, and just one more story for Memorial Day. When my grandma and grandpa picked their burial plots years ago he insisted on one with no trees around. He never like trees because he always had the prettiest yard in the neighborhood, would mow twice a week, and didn't want leaves to ever trash it or block the sun. When he died my Grandma moved their burial plots right below a big tree. Ironically, she died this past August and my mom went out to visit their sites on Memorial Day. What did she see when she pulled up? The tree had been struck by lightening. I guess my Grandpa won afterall.
