They finally did it! 2nd place in a D-bat tournament

This was a weekend I don't think I will ever forget. We started the tournament with a loss to the Hit Girlz. A little disappointing because it was a team we knew we could beat. But then a win against Nemesis kept us from getting the worst seed in the tournament. Here are a couple pictures after our win the first day. The actual tournament would then start Sunday!

Sunday morning started with a loss against the Angels. We were starting to see a trend of us losing our first game! So we were in the losers bracket and to do well in the tournament we would have to win out the rest of the day. The girls pulled it together and played amazing. They ended up beating Chaos, Nemesis, Enid Select. We had made it further than ever before! Next we had to play the Angels and a win would put us into the Championship. They did it!!! We beat the team that had beat us 5-12. It was a long, hot day but to see the smiles and joy in their faces made it all worth it. The girls were just so excited! And Hadley had a huge play in the game where she caught a fly ball getting us our 3rd out in that inning. I am so incredibly proud of her fielding. She has absolutely no fear when the balls come at her so hard!

It was late when we started the Championship game. Then we went into an extra inning and ended up losing to the Hit Girlz. They played their hearts out but were exhausted. They couldn't seem to get many great hits out of the infield which led to lots of outs. But they still had fun. And to get a 2nd place trophy was so amazing. These girls have just come SO far! Matt and I LOVE watching Hadley play. Win or lose it makes us so happy to see her effort and watch her having fun....and getting to spend our entire weekend together as a family and with great friends makes it even better!

I have to mention how amazing Hudson was through the entire tournament. He dealt with the heat, a scraped knee from playing, and being extremely tired just to watch his sister play. He cheered for her in all the games and was so proud of her trophy. He never complained once and he was such a great brother to her today.

We did get to take a little break from softball to celebrate Buck's birthday! Hadley was such a good sport about having to miss a little of it but I was so happy we all could make it for at least a little. Hudson got to stay the whole time which made Buck's day. We love you, Buck!
