First Softball Tournament of the Year

The Pixies were pretty excited about their first softball tournament of the year! Although they had just played in a scrimmage, the actual tournaments are so much more fun. Our first games were early Saturday morning which was kind-of crummy since we had to go all the way to Chickasha. Thankfully, Hudson stayed with Mama and Papa so we didn't have to be out in the cold (it was pretty chilly first thing in the morning). We played the Strikkers first and we knew this was our chance at beating a team in pool play. We were down 2-7 and fought hard to come back and tie the game 7-7. It was so huge and our girls were ecstatic! This picture was taken right after the game....

We did lose our second game playing Wicked. This was expected as they have been the best team we have played in pretty much every tournament and they win just about every tournament they enter. We ended up getting a 3seed and had to play again that night. We all went home for the afternoon and came back at dark!

That evening we played the Pink Sox which is a very comparable team to us. So it was definitely a disappointing loss when we lost 2-10. We just were off and I think it was from waking up so early in the morning and having to play again so late at night. We were then set to play again Sunday morning (it was a double elimination tournament) so we all hurried home for a good nights rest.

Mama and Papa planned a big surprise for the team on Sunday. Mom had been buying stuff for a cookout all week. They took the RV first thing in the morning to get a good parking spot and camped out before the game. We got there a little early as well and hung out with them before the game. Soon everyone started arriving for our 12:30 game....

Once again we had a disappointing loss but got an unlucky draw of playing American Freedom (who ended up taking 2nd). Side note: Hadley is still playing 2nd base and doing SO well. She has gotten such an arm on her this year and has a very accurate throw to first. She is also connecting on all her at-bats and loving every minute of it.

Even with a loss, everyone was excited to go back to the RV for a cookout. Mom and Dad had left the game a little early to lay out all the food and they had bought A LOT: chili hot dogs, chips, cookies, and all kinds of drinks. I feel like everyone was very thankful and Hadley especially was. It was such a sweet gesture that made her feel very loved. We all had a great time laughing, eating, and hanging out together (not on a ball field). Hopefully the RV will make an appearance to more tournaments in the future!
