Zoo day

Erin and Lolly called to say they were taking Jake to the zoo and asked us to come along. We haven't been in a while and both the kids were thrilled to go! Hudson still has such a love for animals and was our tour guide throughout the zoo. Lolly was pretty amazed at how much he knew. It kinda blows me away as well. Hadley was her typical big helper and was almost like having another adult there. She loves to help out with Jake as much as he will possibly let her!

Up close and personal with the Orangutans.

After finishing that side of the zoo we thought we would end with the aquarium and the children's zoo. As always the kids loved playing in the splashpad. While the boys were playing Hadley and I went over to the lorikeet store and bought these super cute hats for the kids. She picked the alligator for Hudson, the elephant for herself, and the giraffe for Jake. Hudson was thrilled with his alligator but Jake ended up wanting the elephant. In true Hadley fashion she was quick to give up the elephant and be happy with the giraffe. Her unselfishness at 9 years old still amazes me. We ate some fruit and pb&j sandwiches on "grandmas porch" before heading off to the aquarium. The kids were kinda wearing out from the heat and it was a quick walk through the aquarium. Usually the sea lions are worth the walk down there but this time they weren't swimming around a lot and not as much fun to see!

We had a fun, hot day at the zoo. It makes me so sad that its not even worth having a zoo pass anymore now that both kids are starting school full time. I CANNOT believe we have hit this point in our life and as much fun as we are having, a little part of me would love to go back and get a second chance to experience it all over with them!
