Hadley's half birthday celebration

Hadley's school has chapel on Thursday mornings and they celebrate birthdays at that time. Since Hadley has a summer birthday we were able to celebrate her half birthday instead. Hadley has been asking about this day for the last month. Because of all the Christmas parties and end of the semester madness we decided to wait until everyone came back from break to celebrate. Hadley had her cookies picked out and knew exactly which outfit she wanted to wear.

We started chapel with a few songs, the pledge of allegiance, the pledge to to the Bible, and "God Bless America."

After a Bible lesson and reciting a Bible verse Hadley was called up to stand in front of all the preschool classes. Her friend Emme was also celebrating her birthday and got to stand at the front of the classroom with her. Mrs. Jill, her teacher, said some of the sweetest things about Hadley that would make every mom proud. She said she is the best helper, always listens, is responsible, and loves to sing. She said she is so happy and a joy to have in class. Her principal, Mrs. Symmes, also told her how much she is loved at the school and that she is one of God's special children. Hadley was smiling ear to ear and I had to fight back some tears as I realized once again how fast she is growing up.

After we heard what a wonderful child Emme is as well the teachers and principal said a wonderful prayer for the girls and couldn't hold back the tears this time as I was so thankful for this environment Hadley gets to go to school in. I know that no matter what, she will always feel loved and will be able to freely pray with her teachers about anything at anytime.

We ended chapel with the birthday girls leading us in a few more songs before dismissing to class.

Hadley was so excited to get back to her classroom and pass out her cookies to each of her friends. Everybody loved the ice cream cone cookies she and Mama had picked out. They have a rule that the birthday kid always gets to take the first bite and I think it took a lot of will power for all the kiddos to wait until Hadley finally sat down and picked up her cookie!

I was so happy to be able to go to school to celebrate Hadley with all these precious kids. Hadley told me it was the best day of school EVER!
