Birthday Boy!

There was once a 5 year old boy that thought the day he would turn 6 would NEVER come. He cried many tears thinking he couldn't possibly wait another day. But he did. And he woke up so very happy!!!

We had all the presents set out and ready to be opened as soon as he woke up. This was the first of Hudson's birthdays to have school and we knew we would be pressed for time but there was no chance he would be able to wait until he got hope from work to open them.

First thing he wanted to do when he came downstairs is get measured by his sister. He was all smiles  when we screamed with excitement that he had grown another inch!

The kids were quick to get dressed for school and then the present opening began. He was so thrilled to get the Nintendo 3ds he had been wanting so bad as well as Legos, games, and more toys! I was so scared we wouldn't be able to get him to school but was thankfully so excited to go tell his friends that it was his birthday that he had no problem leaving.

I got to take a long lunch to go have lunch with my birthday boy! I took cupcakes for the whole class, they sang "Happy Birthday" to him and he was so excited to have me there. I am so glad to have gotten to spend my lunch with him!

Since I had to work until 5, Matt picked the kids up from school and gave Hudson the choice of missing Karate or going. He chose to go because he couldn't wait to tell Master Lewis it was his birthday. I was able to meet them back at home after karate and we opened a few more presents. We had his favorite dinner, Upper Crust, and Mama and Papa brought over some presents as well. I think it was a great day for our 6 year old! How is it possible?!

Some things to not forget...

Hudson has gone through quite the growth spurt. He is now up from the 25% in height to the 50% and from the 5% in weight to the 25%. He still loves to cuddle but I feel like he will outgrow my lap much faster than I would like! Hudson is still such a passionate kid. This can be his greatest strength because I always say he loves hard and he gives 100% to his passions. He really loves Karate and since moving into the older kids class, his focus is amazing. He wants to practice and he knows what has to be done to get better. But his passion is also a weakness of his. He gets upset easily when things don't go as he planned and gets frustrated very easily if he can't do something. He instruction well...if he wants it. But is very stubborn if he does not. I really think we will see Hudson do big things in his life!

Hudson loves us so much and he is always telling and showing us. He gives the greatest hugs, loves to cuddle, and always wants to be around us. He is starting to want to have a lot more play dates but he is perfectly content hanging out at home and just being with his family. He does love jumping on the trampoline with us, playing basketball with daddy, and wrestling any chance someone will wrestle with him.

Hudson has lost his interest in cars. They typically sit on a shelf in our play room now. He still likes dinosaurs and will play them with you anytime you ask but he doesn't love them. He does love to play games on his iPad. Its always a treat when we tell him he can get a new game. Several of his games are fighting/play games but he has also learned so much from others. He has a game called Dragon City and it is incredible how he has memorized the dragons names and their specialties. He is also not nearly as interested in superheros anymore and has gone from wanting to wear all superhero stuff to now wanting to wear althletic gear. He still loves to get dressed up and look "handsome" but he really prefers his "comfy" clothes. He also loves his spiky hair and never wants it just combed over!

Hudson is still a picky eater. He loves cheese, grilled cheese, pizza (no red sauce!), chips, yogurt, nuts, and apples. He eats a couple apples a day so maybe thats why he's been so much healthier this past year! He's not much of a snacker and definitely not a sweets eater but we would give just about anything right now to expand his diet a little bit. He made us a promise he would start eating green beans when he turns 7 so I'm excited to see if he follows through.

Hudson was the best completion to our family. He brings us so much joy and the occasional headache (though those are few and far between now)! I have so many favorite things about him but his smile may be at the top. Hudson smiles anytime you even look at him and its just the cutest thing. He loves to hug anyone he knows and he will be friends with anyone. We love him so much and can't wait to see how he grows and changes in this next year.
