Hudson's 6th Birthday party

This was the year of fun birthday parties! Hadley's was one of my favorites to date and Hudson's is definitely one of my favorites he has had. We had a hard time deciding what to do for his party and then finally narrowed down a ninja/karate party. It was so much fun! We had some fun ideas for snacks (thanks to pinterest) and Hudson loved helping me prepare them all. While checking on Mama to see if her knee was doing ok, we made chocolate covered fortune cookies. Hudson was such a big helper and so careful to do them correctly. He may have made less of a mess than I even did. Next I hand made a banner for the wall. Of course, if I had really thought it out I could have just printed out the letters but I wanted to make it difficult on myself and hand write them. It was worth it though...I love how it turned out! We got a cake from Uptown Grocery, that they messed up but still looked cute; made "sushi" out of rice crispy treats, swedish fish, and fruit rollups; ordered some Karate cookies; and made party favors out of chinese togo boxes with a sticker on top and foam nunchucks tied to them. It's been a long wait for this party and Hudson was soooo excited the day was here!

Hudson was almost too excited to even take pictures but I finally talked him into a couple. And thankfully, I took more than 1 because as I was putting together this blog post I noticed that the little stinker is actually holding up 7 fingers in the first pic. Then you can see he is still giggling during the second pic of holding up only 6 fingers.

As his friends started arriving they would enter the gym with Master Lewis explaining all the things they would be doing. He asked them all sorts of fun questions and wanted to wait until everyone was there to get started. He said it can be intimidating for kids to come in if the class has started already.

They started the class with the pledge to the flag, a prayer, and some warm up games. The kids were already having a blast with lots of giggles! Next he taught them lots of drills including blocking punches, kicks, and jumps. And even some forms. Hudson was so proud to show everyone all that he knew. He was all smiles the whole time.

I only have video of Hudson's favorite part but at least I can tell about it. Right before cake and ice cream Hudson got to break a board in front of his friends. He chose the hardest way to break it...with a front kick. But he gave it his all and broke it on the very first try. Its so fun to hear all his friends cheering in the video.

This little ham sure did love the attention of all the kids singing happy birthday to him!

Eating cake with all his friends:

A little more playing to wrap up the party. It got a little crazy with no instruction and lots of sugar! We are so thankful for the good friends Hudson has already made. With only a few weeks into Kindergarten he hasn't had a lot of time to meet people so it was really exciting to see all the friendships that are already developing. He has some great kids in his class!

Me and my buddy after the party. The party planning was all worth it when it turned out to be so much fun!

One more picture of the birthday boy and his sister. Hadley was such a doll during the party and loved helping and making sure all the kids were having fun. She sure loves her brother!
