Hadley has had an iPad for a couple years now but we never set up texting on it. Matt thought it would be fun to do that for her now that she would really understand how to use it. I think I may love it more than she does. I get the sweetest messages while I am at work and she is home from school. There is nothing better than looking at my phone at work and seeing an "I LOVE YOU" on the screen. The other day I had the stomach bug and Matt asked her to let me rest. She is my shadow so I think it about killed her for me to be in the other room and her not come in there. I was just about asleep when I heard my phone go off and it made me smile to see a sweet message that she was sorry I was sick. I have had many more sweet messages since and I love them!
We lasted 9 years not letting Bauer get on the couch. I caved one night and it has been every night since. Matt will blame me if we have to get a new couch. I will still try to blame the kids. :)
I picked up Hudson from school and we went to his very favorite store...Petco to pick up some dogfood. When I looked back at him once we pulled in the parking lot I was positive I was looking at a teenager (minus the booster seat). He is getting so big! He then noticed me taking a picture and had to turn into his typical silly self. Inside the store we had to seek out every single animal there and he was sad to not see a chinchilla. Speaking of chinchillas... its pretty much all he wants for Christmas. He's not forgetting about it and he knows all about them. Why does he want one? They are "puffy." We are hoping and praying he doesn't ask Santa for one and we are using every distraction technique we possibly can!
More pics when we got home. Again...Bauer on the couch. Honestly, my only complaint is that its another thing I now have to vacuum.
Hard to see but Hudson's playing with a surfer figurine. When I walked in to tell the kids to get out of the bath Hadley had fixed his hair and Hudson said, "surf's up dude!"
A friend I have grown up with and who also became a sorority sister of mine passed away this month. It was an emotionally draining week for several of us as we found out her husband found her unconscious, she was in the hospital for a week before they finally did an exploratory surgery on her brain, she was closed up as the doctors told her husband there was nothing they could do, and she was taken off machines to pass away a day later. With two little girls it tore me up. This is definitely the first time a death has hit so close to home and it, as many times before, has made me realize how precious time is with our families. Nothing can be left unsaid and I want Matt and the kids to know how much I love them EVERY single day. Hadley saw me cry lots of tears this week and has been very sensitive to it. I came in the study one night after putting the kids in bed and found this sitting on our couch. It's the dry erase that she typically practices her spelling words on but this time she had written this touching note. I love this little girls heart.
Hadley did her first book report and it was a lot of fun to see it come together. She didn't do this part at home but when I dropped her off at school one day I saw this bulletin board her teacher had put together. I thought it was so cute.
Matt took the kids to OSU's homecoming game while I went to Norman for the first time in a couple years. My friend Susan got married and we had a late wedding shower for her at the Mont before a home game. It was fun to catch up with friends and I also loved getting pictures of the kids having a fun time in Stillwater.
They found this huge Great Dane and the kids fell in love. The owner actually commented on how most kids were scared of how big he did and ours had no problem getting right up next to him. Hudson was maybe even a little too comfortable and got right up next to his face!
Hudson's on a spaghetti kick, or really just noodles and butter. He also wants to cook it himself which really stresses me out because I know its a matter of time before his little hand forgets the stove is hot. I end up spending the entire time he is cooking saying, "don't forget its hot! don't forget its hot!"

Hadley had a Westward project where they could choose from several different project ideas. Hadley wanted to make a teepee. We got sticks and feathers from Hobby Lobby and a sheet my dad picked up from the hospital. She colored on the sheet and we put it all together. She was so proud of how it turned out and I thought it looked great too!
Hudson was pretty pumped to get to lead his Karate class in the warm-up today. You get to do this if you are the highest ranked belt in your class and he has now reached that point. So proud of him and his commitment to Karate.
Hudson had his 5 year appointment almost a month late! He was so good and Dr. Stephens even commented on how much he smiles. It has always been one of my favorite qualities of Hudson...all you have to do is look at him and he gets a big grin across his face! Our little guy is growing too! He is now in the 40th percentile for height (42.5 inches) and the 25th in weight (38lbs). This is a big jump from being the 10th percentile in height and the 2nd in weight. He is perfectly healthy with only a slight heart murmur he will outgrow. He told Dr. Stephens all about his friends, his school, and karate.
