We woke up Tuesday morning to Matt and Hudson making the morning camp newsletter hanging on our door. A fun surprise...
This morning Hudson wanted to sleep in with Daddy so the two early birds of the family dressed for the day and Hadley joined me for my morning coffee at the bean. Afterwards we decided to play miniature golf while waiting for breakfast and for Matt and Hudson to wake up and get ready. We weren't playing for long before we saw them walking to join us. We were only able to play a few holes before it was time for breakfast but it was a fun way to start the morning.
I heard before coming that the food at camp was excellent and so far it hasn't disappointed us. Even Hudson, our pickiest eater, has been able to find plenty to eat. But I would say the cinnamon toast they served this morning may have been his favorite breakfast of the week.
We had a few minutes after breakfast before breaking off to our morning activities to so Hadley insisted she conquer the swinging ropes. She had tried several times and each time it would start spinning and she would fall to the ground. But this time she did it. Slow and steady but she made it to the top! She was all smiles and so happy she finally did it. Peyton even took her turn as well, made it too, and was equally as happy.
When we met back together for lunch the girls wanted to eat upstairs. As we were walking inside we were surprised with a visit from Susan who now works in the marketing area of Kanakuk. She drove over from her office just to eat lunch with us. Hadley felt pretty special and her and Peyton loved getting to both eat beside her. It was so fun for me to be able to catch up with her as well. Such a fun surprise.
On Tuesday afternoon Kanakuk offered a watercolor painting class. Hadley and Peyton signed up for it and we dropped them off to learn how to paint a stream of water. This was definitely out of their comfort zone but they ended up really enjoying it and we got a pretty picture out of it to hang in our house!
After a little freetime in the afternoon it was time for us to get ready for our date night. Kanakuk offers a second date night on Tuesday evening where they watch the kids all evening so you can go on a date in Branson. We had a place called Arnie's Barn recommened to us that was on Top of the Rock by Big Cedar. It was such a pretty drive up there and even more beautiful when we arrived. The restaurant overlooked an Arnold Palmer course that was so beautiful. We had an excellent dinner and enjoyed hanging out with Ryan and Lisa.
And then...rain again. And not just any rain. Flooding rain. The kind that actually ended up coming in the restaurant windows and ending our night a little faster. We were really hoping to walk around the grounds but ended up just making sure we got back to camp safely. It was fine, we made it, and we picked up so soaking wet kids who played games all night in the same rain. It was such a great, fun night that was refreshing for us all. We talked about how fun it would be to head back there again soon and spend a weekend in the Big Cedar area...we haven't been there since Hadley was 3 and it has changed a lot!
