Hudson has really been looking forward to M&M olympics this year where they show off all they have been learning in gymnastics. He has been doing so well and with his crazy core strength it is amazing the things he can do at his age. His coach is always commenting on how he should be doing competition gymnastics. However, there are no classes for boys in OKC and we would have to drive to Norman to be in a good gym. Definitely not something we are interested in when he is perfectly happy in his recreational classes. Still....its pretty amazing so see all he can do. I attribute alot of it to karate as well since they are always working on flexibility and core strength!
Anyway, Matt was able to take off work and came over to watch his olympics. It fell on Hadley's last day of school so as soon as we were done we had plans on heading over to the park where Hadley would be meeting us with some of her friends she had gone home with. Here are Hudson and Will doing their usual before class....
Shirts are on, boys are lined up, and they are ready to parade in for us to watch them.
They started with a series of skills they had been working on such as handstands, cartwheels, balancing on the horse, etc.
Then they showed us some tricks they had learned on the trampoline...flips onto the matt and splits in the air.
We went to the rings next where his coach had Hudson go last. Before he went she explained that he is the only one at this level that can hold himself up with straight arms. As easy as it looks it takes a LOT or arm and core strength to lift yourself up and then hold it steady.
Finally, the awards. Hudson was so proud to show off his trophy and had such a big smile on his face. I am so proud of how hard he tried to do a good job and how much progress he made this year.
Love these buddies and I sure will miss them doing gymnastics together next year!
