Snow days

Long post with lots of pictures but we have had a bunch of snow in February and there are just too many cute pictures I don't want to leave out!

This was the first snow as it was coming down and then after it had stopped. Why does everything look so much prettier when its surrounded in white. Though I don't love cold weather, I sure am glad to get a couple good snows each year...

Neither of our kids have been big fans of either temperature extreme but we were finally prepared this year with some warmer gear! So we bundled up to go outside and play in the snow. We didn't own a sled so Hadley and I tried to go find one at Dicks but everyone had beat us to it and all we came back with was a tube. Hopefully this would work....

Making our way to a big hill on the golf course and Hadley had to stop for a snow angel while Hudson had to stop for several bites of snow. Every time I turned around I would catch him licking snow off light poles, mailboxes, electrical boxes, etc!

Once we found the hill, Hudson wasted no time rolling down it. Even with snow dripping inside his jacket he was still all giggles.

Matt hooked a strap to the tube and attempted to take the kids "tubing." It actually worked surprisingly well but, unfortunately, they couldn't go down the hill without being pulled. Look at the big grins as daddy ran down the hill pulling them!

We (or Matt) did this a few times before a boy in the neighborhood showed up with a sled that looked much more fun. The kids watched him go down the hill several times until he nicely asked if they would like a turn. They went down several times until their hands were frozen and they were ready to go home.

The kids dad told us he got the sled at Lowes so Matt jumped in the car and decided to try and track some down. In the meantime, the kids and I warmed up by the fire and ate some snack. Matt ended up coming back with three and the kids were ready to bundle back up and go out for more. We decided to have a little more fun this time and tie a rope to the sleds and pull the kids behind the car. Before we sound completely irresponsible, we took the kids to the undeveloped part of the neighbohood where no one is on the streets and i held the rope instead of tying it to the car. Matt probably went a whopping 5 miles an hour and I would let go of the rope when the kids were ready to stop. They had an absolute blast!!! Giggles the whole time and huge smiles on their faces. And it had turned out to be a great afternoon. The snow had stopped and there was very little wind....though still very cold.

One of my favorite pics of the two together:

Time for a little more snow eating!

Hudson loved sitting in the back of the car and cheering Hadley on as she would get a little more daring. He even helped me hold the rope a few times.

Look at all these pink noses and cheeks. I think we were ALL ready to call it quits and head home to warm up!

Oh, but just one more snack of snow before getting completely undressed.

So for the THIRD time, we decided to bundle up for some more! This time Hadley's friend, Charlotte, came over with her brother, David. They were all excited to try out the sleds on the hills. The dogs even enjoyed watching the kids and Bauer loved running up and down the fence trying to keep up.

Here's Hadley's attempt at "snow surfing" that didn't end so well. I think she managed to stay standing for about 10 feet the first time.

Our next door neighbor, Emma, was all smiles out in the snow.

And daddy pulled Hadley just a little too hard this time!

Such cute best friends!

Hudson got his share too and was pretty good at keeping up with the big kids. He was even great at carrying his sled back up the hill himself!

Lots of cuddles to warm up and watch tv after everyone had left. It is moments and days like these that I will remember the rest of my life. A day with the family, lots of laughs, lots of fun.
