Reading Restaurant

Reading Restaurant is easily my favorite thing they do in 1st grade! Hudson has been so excited for us to come to his classroom to hear all the books he has been writing. When we arrived we were told to stand outside the classroom. Hudson came to the door to great us and welcome us into his restaurant.

We were taken to our table where Hudson handed us a "Menu." In the menu we could order different books to be read and they all came with a price...a hug, a kiss, a handshake, etc.

Hudson loved reading us the books he had written. I could tell he had worked so hard on them and he had a huge smile on his face as he read them to us. He wrote a non-fiction story, fiction, poem, a fact book, and a class book. They were all so great!

A picture of the tablecloth and vase of flowers for the table.

It makes me so sad when I realize this is our last Reading Restaurant. But I love that our school does these fun activities and we got to see our kids so proud of their work. Such a fun day with Hudson!

Mother Son Date night

This was the 2nd mother/son date night for Hudson and I. Crossings had it at the bowling alley this year and it was a fun change. We had a great night and Hudson was the best date. He would run off with his friends for a second and then immediately come back to make sure I was having a good time.  He really did want to be with me the whole time which was so sweet. At the end of the night, right before we left, Hudson asked me for $35 and he would pay me back. Some of his friends had gone to play video games and that was really the only reason I could think he needed the money. When I said no he said it was ok but as we walked out the door he pointed to a case of plastic rings with a 35 sign beside them. He told me he had really wanted to buy the ring for me. He didn't even know they were only 35 tickets, and instead felt like it was completely worth spending $35 on a plastic ring just for me. So sweet! Such a great night with great memories.

Egg Hunt at the Lake

Finally we got a year with some decent weather for our annual egg hunt at the lake. Mom worked hard to fill all the eggs and had to plan even more since she invited so many kids. We had quite the crew but it made it even more fun. Before everybody got there we decorated some hard boiled eggs with the new Egg decorator I had bought. It was so much fun, made the prettiest eggs, and I can't believe I forgot to get any pictures of them. The kids loved it!

So many kids. I feel like the oldest aren't far from outgrowing the egg hunts which puts a big knot in my stomach. How did this happen so fast? They still had so much fun this year and even helped the little kids some too.

Great food, friends, and family. I am so thankful for these times together and the great memories we are making.
