School Picture Day

Hadley always loves school picture day in the Spring because she gets to wear whatever clothes she wants. Hudson doesn't quite know the feeling of school uniforms every day but soon will!

I never have high expectations for pictures after they have been at school all day and who knows when their picture gets taken but I am usually pleasantly surprised! This year was no different...I love them!!! I took a few pictures before they left for school and the last two are what we received back.

Precious little pre-k picture!

Looking so grown up and beautiful!

Dallas Weekend

LaNeale called us about a month ago and wanted to plan an adult weekend in Dallas with us, the Holleymans, and the Robertsons. Her aunt and uncle had recently bought a highrise apartment there and were renting it out to people. They gave us a great deal thought it was going to be a short weekend, we were excited to get away. The trip almost came to a halt when I came down with some virus the day before...but we had sitters lined up and plans made so I figured I could relax there just as easily as I could relax here! Matt and I drove down Saturday morning and met up with the other four. The boys quickly left to play a round of golf at Colonial (Kip got them on) and LaNeale, Lindsey, and I were off to get massages and blow outs. It became quite comical as nothing went quite like we planned. While I just got a massage, Lindsey and LaNeale both got facials as well. Immediately after they applied the face mask, LaNeale had a crazy reaction to it and her face turned bright red. They took if off as quickly as possible and her facial ended just like that. I ended up with a great massage! We got a quick bite to eat and it was time for our blow outs. We knew right after walking in that we were going to be in for a treat. It was so hot, the women were sweating, and the woman doing my hair was actually a cross-dresser. My hair didn't get washed well and still was full of oil from the massage earlier. And it looked terrible! Nothing like paying $50 for something I could have done much better myself! But we had lots of laughs and it was all worth it. Side note: this entire time I am chilled, running fever, and probably should have just been in bed. After the boys got done golfing and we got back to the apartment we all got dressed for dinner at Neighborhood Services. We had some great food and finished the night off on the patio of the apartment with a fire and drinks. We had more than enough to talk about (mostly involving the kids) and had such a great night...if I just wasn't wrapped up in a blanket and feeling like poo the whole time! We woke up early the next morning to head back home making it a pretty short trip but still worth the time away. Hopefully, we can plan another mini trip soon!

The best Valentine's dates!

This year we continued the tradition of me taking Hudson on a Valentine's date and Matt taking Hadley. And we let the pick just what they wanted to do. Hudson had the hardest time deciding but finally landed on Main Event for some laser tag. He decided we would just eat pizza there and, of course, he wanted to play some games as well. We had so much fun together laughing and being crazy. He also takes the "date" quite seriously and opens all the doors for me. He even says "ladies first" at every opportunity that comes up. I had quite the perfect Valentine's date! I even got roses to start the night off...

Matt and Hadley had their own night planned. He started with giving her a bouquet of balloon flowers. She loved it and thought they were so fun. Hadley chose Upper Crust for dinner and then some shopping at the mall. She didn't stray from last year and I imagine its because she made out pretty well with her daddy last year. They went to Dillards, Claires, and Justice and she came home with lots to show me. She especially loved the outfit and shoes she picked out. I think Hadley and her daddy did a great job...and she clearly has him wrapped around her little finger! He said it was a fun night and she was really appreciative and sweet about all they did together.

Hudson's first basketball season

Hudson got to play his first season of basketball and it was so fun to watch! As with all preschoolers, they had no idea what they were doing and it was basically like herding cattle on the ball court. Hudson proved himself to be a pretty amazing defender but he loved to pass the ball to his friends just seconds after it was in his hands. He told us after the game that, "he just liked to see his friends score." If thats true then it is super sweet, but I think he still just had a little bit of embarrassment that all the attention was on him. It didn't help that we were in a league of just kindergarteners and so we were, by far, the smallest each week. We had so much fun watching him play and watching him progress as the season went on....and I think he is even excited to play again next year!

School Valentine's parties

Hudson and Hadley had their Valentine's parties on different days because of Hudson not being in school on Thursdays. I loved it because it allowed me to go to both. I'll be sad next year when I have to split my time between both classes. Hudson woke up excited to dress up for his party. We made sure to wear some red and I dropped him off at 8. I went back to school at 10:30 for the party. He had the best time. It's always mass chaos at these parties but I love seeing how much he has matured in the last year and how he can handle it so much better now. We made a craft together and I sat with him while he ate his cookie. They didn't open their Valentine's sacks but sent them home to open later...smart move by the teachers! I had fun day with my littlest Valentine!

Thursday was Hadley's party. She was so excited to have a uniform free day and get to wear something Valentine's themed. We waited a little long to think of what she was going to wear and we were digging through clothes looking anything that worked. She ended up putting her outfit together herself and she looked so cute! Hadley's party was at the end of the day so Hudson and I had our typical thursday of gymnastics, errands, and playing and then he got to join me for the party. Hadley has just the best time with her friends and has a permanent smile on her face. They did a little craft as well and then got to have ice cream and open their boxes. It was a fun afternoon spent with my sweet girl!
